Facts about Robina
Robina is located in the heart of the Gold Coast in Queensland. Just west of Broadbeach, it is surrounded by the coastal areas and the Gold Coast Hinterland. About 16 kilometres (10 mi) away from Surfers Paradise and 80 kilometres (50 mi) from Brisbane, Robina is recognised as one of the affluent suburbs in this area and is considered one of Australia’s most successful planned communities.
As a matter of fact, Robina is gradually becoming the new centre of the Gold Coast and more people are moving to this suburb each year. Here are a few reasons why:
If you are after an established vibrant community for your family, there are plenty of well-kept pet and children-friendly parks in this suburb. With more than 100 parks scattered throughout the area, which feature sporting fields, picnic areas, playgrounds and a range of walking or cycling tracks, this suburb definitely makes for a great family day out any time of the year.
Robina has high appeal for families as a result of the excellent educational facilities, including nine primary and secondary schools and eleven kindergartens and preschools. It also houses the second-largest public high school in Queensland and Australia’s only private and independently funded university – Bond University. A Library and several daycare centres are available to look after your kids in this area.
Located on the river/lakeside are some great cafes, taverns and restaurants — a wonderful place for a casual lunch with your friends or Friday night drinks. Don’s Tavern (Bond University’ own pub), the Robina Tavern and the Dog and Parrot are just a few of the local favourites.
There are a couple of public hospitals located in the suburb as well as many places of worship for a variety of faiths. The newly upgraded Robina Hospital and the new QLD Health Medical Precinct offer numerous facilities and surgeries. The suburb is also relatively close to Pindarra, Allamanda and The Gold Coast Hospital. Plus, there are numerous doctors’ clinics in the area.
Shop until you drop because there is no shortage of shopping in Robina. Robina Town Centre, Gold Coast’s largest and most popular shopping facility, offers its residents and visitors an excellent range of specialty stores, retail stores as well as Event Cinemas. It features more than 200 stores including Kmart, Coles, Target, David Jones, and Woolworths. There is also Pacific Fair, Robina Quays, Christine Corner and Robina Village Shopping Village which is simply a one-stop shop for groceries, beauty shops, real estate, petrol and bottle shop and other everyday necessities.
Robina Town Centre is also the location for the Skilled Park, a stadium with a seating capacity of over 27,000, meeting the requirements of the NRL, football and rugby union. The Gold Coast Titans NRL team and the Gold Coast United soccer team are based at Skilled Park. Additionally, Robina is home to a duo of amateur Australian rules football clubs, the Robina Roos and the Bond University Bullsharks.
The suburb enjoys smooth links to the Pacific Motorway and Gold Coast Highway and is situated on the Brisbane-Gold Coast railway line. The QR Robina Railway Station, the Surfside Buslines, and the Ferry System facilitate getting around the suburb and make travel with great ease to Brisbane, Coolangatta and almost anywhere else on the Gold Coast and along the coast of Queensland. Getting to the popular beaches such as Burleigh Beach or the theme parks further north only takes a short drive.
So whether you are single, with a young family, a retiree or perhaps a student, Robina will offer you something to see or do when you move in.
