Facts about Upper Coomera
Upper Coomera has become another popular suburb on the Gold Coast for those moving to the area. It is a suburb with a lot of development still happening in the residential area, and recent commercial development has included a new small shopping area including home improvement stores, cafes and restaurants. The suburb is home to a number of both public schools, as well as private schools such as Assisi College, St Stephens College and Coomera Anglican.
Upper Coomera is located on the western side of the M1 and despite its growing population house prices are still quite good. There is a mixture of homes built within the past 5-10 years, as well as houses currently under development. Established four-bedroom houses sell for an average of $386,000 and rent for an average of $420 per week. Three and four-bedroom houses still under development are fetching an average sale of around $440,000. A three-bedroom unit sells for an average of $294,000 and rents for an average of $380 per week. The area is mostly made up of families and facilities are good for both families and those without children.
The suburb does seem to get a bit of a bad reputation from some Gold Coast locals, however, many Upper Coomera locals are happy to defend their suburb and love living there. Some locals have started up a Northern Gold Coast Facebook page that covers events happening in the area, as well as having a neighbourhood watch feel about it. It is a busy suburb and with housing so close together, you can feel like you are packed in, but there is still a community feel to the suburb.
There are a small number of sports clubs in the area and in surrounding suburbs including netball, soccer, baseball, hockey and AFL.
Buses run through the area quite frequently to the Coomera train station, as well as to the closest shopping centres and business areas. The M1 is quite close making getting onto the highway to head north to Brisbane or south to NSW easy.
Upper Coomera is an area to look at if you are after well-priced housing options, close to the M1 and all the facilities the northern Gold Coast has to offer.
