Facts about Nerang
Nerang is a relatively large Gold Coast suburb that is made up of a mixture of older homes and newer homes on differing sizes of land as commercial and manufacturing areas. With the Nerang State Forest as its border, the suburb is a short drive from the hinterland where you can find numerous walking tracks and picnic areas. Nerang is quite an established area and property prices can vary depending on the type of property you buy (acreage vs standard land size). Property prices are still quite affordable and many first homeowners look at buying into Nerang to enter the market. A three-bedroom house sells for an average of $330,000 or an average rental price of $380 per week. A three-bedroom unit sells for an average of $250,000 and rents for an average of $350 per week.
There is both a primary and high school in the suburb and surrounding suburbs also host both primary and high schools to choose from. There is a train station located on the eastern side of the suburb which goes directly into Brisbane’s CBD, and a number of bus lines that run to major areas of the Gold Coast.
Nerang is close to the M1 with a number of shops and facilities to choose from including medical centres, swimming pool, and emergency services. There are some sports clubs in the suburb as well as a PCYC offering a number of sports including badminton, boxing, kickboxing, netball, dance and kinder gym. There is also a small cinema in the suburb.
One of the downsides to the suburb is that it does have a bad reputation among locals. Like anywhere, certain sections of the suburbs are fine while you may like to avoid others.
If you are looking for a suburb with a lot of nighttime entertainment, you won’t find it at Nerang; however, at only 15 km from Surfers Paradise, you are never far from entertainment options.
