Chermside West is separated from Chermside by Webster Road and is bordered to the north by the quite busy Rode Road. Hamilton Road, which is another major road in the area, runs through the middle of the suburb. Chermside West is more residential than Chermside, so it isn’t quite as busy with public transport and people trying to make their way to the shopping centre.
Chermside West is home to many older-style houses, but there has also been some newer development and renovation activity in recent years. Compared to Chermside, where a larger portion of the population is made up of singles and couples, Chermside West remains a family-oriented suburb, with families making up approximately 55% of households (2021 Census). A three-bedroom home can be purchased for a median price of around $820,000 (2025) or rented for approximately $600 per week (2025). Parts of Chermside West were originally named Craigslea, and some of the schools in the area still hold this name.
