Facts about Carole Park

Carole Park is a small suburb that lies 25km south-west of Brisbane and 20km east of Ipswich. The suburb is split by the Logan Motorway and also runs alongside the Centenary Motorway. With access to three major motorways (the Logan, Centenary and Ipswich) getting from Carole Park to almost anywhere is nice and easy.

Carole Park is a great little suburb for anyone looking to get into the property market who isn’t too fussed about how new their house is. There have been minimal sales in the past year, with an average purchase price of $210,000. Currently, the properties on the market have an average listing price of $267,000. There is a shortage of rental properties in the area, so it could be a great area to look at if you are looking for an investment property. You will find a lot of older properties as there were once a large number of housing commission properties throughout the 1970’s.

The Logan Motorway splits the residential and the industrial areas of the suburb with the industrial section of the suburb being part of the Ipswich City Council while the residential part of the suburb comes under the Brisbane City Council. This split, while confusing, stretches back to the 1990’s when the Shire of Moreton was absorbed into Brisbane, Ipswich and Somerset Councils. The suburb is relatively new, only being settled in the 1940’s (other than some farms) with electricity supplied to the suburb in 1965 and water connected in 1969.

There is one state school in the suburb with a number of state and private primary and secondary schools in the surrounding suburbs of Camira, Forest Lake and Goodna. The Ipswich Campus of the University of Queensland is 25 km to the west, while the Springfield Lakes Campus of the University of Southern Queensland is 11km to the south. While there is no train station in Carole Park, there are stations nearby at Goodna, Gailes, Wacol and Springfield as well as buses running to Brisbane CBD.
