Facts about Carole Park

Carole Park is a small suburb located about 25km south-west of Brisbane and roughly 20km east of Ipswich. The suburb sits alongside several major transport routes, including the Logan Motorway and Centenary Motorway, with easy access to the nearby Ipswich Motorway. This makes commuting to Brisbane, Ipswich and other surrounding areas relatively straightforward.

Carole Park has a unique administrative arrangement. The Logan Motorway effectively divides the suburb, with the residential section falling under Brisbane City Council while the industrial area is part of Ipswich City Council. This division dates back to local government boundary changes in the 1990s when parts of the former Shire of Moreton were absorbed into neighbouring councils.

Historically, the area remained largely rural until the mid-20th century. Carole Park began to develop as a residential suburb in the 1940s, with electricity introduced in 1965 and town water connected in 1969. Much of the housing stock dates from the 1960s and 1970s, when a number of public housing properties were constructed in the area.

In 2025, the median house price in Carole Park is approximately $640,000, with rental prices averaging around $520 per week. While the suburb still contains many older homes, its relatively affordable entry price compared with other Brisbane suburbs has attracted interest from first-home buyers and investors.

Education options in the suburb include Carole Park State School. Additional primary and secondary schools can be found in nearby suburbs such as Camira, Forest Lake and Goodna. For tertiary education, the University of Queensland Ipswich campus is around 25km west, while the University of Southern Queensland campus at Springfield is about 11km away.

Although there is no train station directly within Carole Park, nearby stations at Goodna railway station, Gailes railway station, Wacol railway station and Springfield railway station provide public transport connections to Brisbane. Bus services also operate in the surrounding suburbs.
