Northside
What makes Northside remarkable is that it continues to steadily grow in spite of its already lofty status. Hamilton, Ascot and Albion have long been regarded as some of Brisbane’s most prestigious with their beautiful tree-lined streets, strategic location, and dynamic local facilities and infrastructure. However, outer suburbs such as Bracken Ridge, Bridgeman Downs, and Carseldine have begun to make their mark as well, clearly evidenced by its fast-rising population and thriving new developments. And with the improvements to public transport, the city and other suburbs further afield are more accessible than ever.
There’s great diversity in the housing styles in the area where one could find anything from traditional and old Queenslanders to modern townhouses and apartment units.
While North Brisbane is primarily composed of residential suburbs, there are also a number of localities that contain a high density of industrial estates such as Geebung and Zillmere.
With the number of commercial and retail establishments around the area, residents can expect their shopping needs to be thoroughly satisfied. The area is home to a number of large shopping centres including Westfield Chermside, the biggest shopping facility in Queensland and third in the country. There are also a number of prominent retail and commercial precincts in the area where residents can access trendy boutiques, restaurants and faces. Examples of these are the ships along Racecourse Road in Ascot, and Sandgate Road in Albion.
A number of sporting facilities, but there are none more famous than the Eagle Farm and Doomben race tracks. Located in Ascot, these two courses host some of the state’s biggest and most illustrious thoroughbred racing events, including the Queensland Derby, Queensland Oaks and the Spring and Winter Racing Carnivals. Moreover, both facilities are also utilised as venues for concerts, primarily for the Future Music Festival which is held annually. Other notable sporting facilities around the area include Keith Beavis Oval Windsor Park, and Vic Walsh Oval.
Residents need not worry about their children’s academic needs as there are plenty of schools that are easily accessible from the area.
