Facts about Carters Ridge
Forming part of the Gympie Council region, Carters Ridge lies on the southern end of the council region; at 35km to Gympie and 45km to Noosa, Carters Ridge is very much a hinterland town with access to a number of large towns for facilities such as medical, shopping, schools and recreation.
With an extremely high-demand market, Carters Ridge is a popular town for families who make up over 70% of the population. Properties for sale attract an average of 29 people looking per property compared to the Queensland average of 13. House prices are relatively inexpensive, and you could expect to pay an average of $272,000. With properties ranging from land to five-bedroom houses, you are likely to find something suitable.
Despite being a town with a large number of families, Carters Ridge doesn’t have any schools within its boundaries. The closest schools are in the Mary Valley, Kandanga, Noosa or Federal; all of these schools are within 25km of Carters Ridge. Unfortunately, being on the very southern end of the council region there aren’t a lot of council facilities available in the town. The closest public pool is at Kandanga, there are community halls in Imbil, Kandanga and Brooloo and the closest library is in Imbil.
Given that the western boundary of Carters Ridge runs alongside the Mary River there is potential for flooding for properties near here. It is recommended to check with the local council for flood maps prior to purchasing.
Carters Ridge is a town for those who don’t mind having to drive to get to the beach (45 minutes away), national parks or closest facilities. With the closest train station to Brisbane at least 20 minutes away, it is definitely an area you will need a car in.
Despite not having a lot of facilities available, Carters Ridge is perfect for those who want to live a more rural lifestyle, with green open spaces and enough room for the kids to run around.
