Bellara is an “almost beachside” island living suburb, located on the southwestern end of Bribie Island near the bridge to the mainland. It sits on Pumicestone Passage and is only a 10-minute drive to the beach (located on the eastern side of the island). Despite its closeness to the water, Bellara is a relatively affordable area. It is an older area, and you will find houses that have been built for at least 5-10 years. A three-bedroom house sells for an average of $298,000 and rents for an average of $320 per week; a two-bedroom unit sells for an average of $256,000 and rents for an average of $280 per week.

Bellara is close to a number of facilities on the island including a community arts centre, a seaside museum, an aquatic centre, two golf clubs and a number of small takeaway stores as well as an RSL club. There is also a bowling club, surf lifesaving, rugby and cricket clubs.

Bellara is part of the Bribie Island community which is quite community orientated. The arts centre holds monthly art markets and also hosts a number of groups including gardening, photography, quilters, woodworkers and yoga classes.

For those with children, there are three primary schools and one high school on Bribie Island. There are also five childcare centres. For those commuting to the city, Brisbane is 66km to the south, which can take around an hour and a half drive time in peak hour. Alternatively, Caboolture train station is approximately 20km away with trains running regularly to the city. For those driving to the Sunshine Coast, it is around a 70km drive depending on location.
