Blacktown is a suburb in the City of Blacktown, in Western Sydney. Located 34 kilometres west of the Sydney central business district, it serves as the administrative centre of the local government area of Blacktown City. With a population of approximately 40,000 people, Blacktown is the largest of any suburb in New South Wales and is an extremely diverse, migrant-rich part of Sydney.
There is always something to appeal to everyone when you’re in Blacktown. The recently renovated and expanded Westpoint Blacktown is now the biggest shopping centre in Western Sydney. As a major retail hub for the region, it houses several key retail outlets including Target, Coles, Woolworths, Myer, Franklins and Supermarkets. Hoyts Blacktown is also the destination for Xtremescreen – Australia’s Largest Multiplex Screen. You can easily spot a number of smaller shops, cafes, restaurants, arts centre, library, drive-in movie, acquatic centre, bowling alley, raceway, hospitals, banks as well as hotels in the surrounding area. Westpoint also houses a western suburb television studio of the Nine Network.

Additionally, there is the Coreen School, which caters to older children with learning difficulties and a campus of the University of Western Sydney.
Blacktown is a bustling hub of transportation. Busways and Hillsbus are the two major providers of bus services in town, with a main station located adjacent to the train station. It is is also a terminus of the North-West T-way. The majority of residents use the railway system, with the nearest station being the Blacktown Railway station on the Western Line of the Cityrail network. M4, M7, M2 and Great Western Highway allow getting in and out heaps easy and even make visits to Blue Mountains, Newcastle, Canberra and the City an option for a quick getaway.
