15 minutes west of Tweed Heads lies the suburb of Cobaki, a small suburb of less than 300 people. Much of the population is made up of those born in Australia but other nationalities include those born in New Zealand, China, England and Scotland; while English topped the languages spoken at home, others included French and Mandarin.

Cobaki is a suburb in quite high demand but with so little properties going on the market each year, it can be difficult to get in and make an offer before someone else does. With only 34 properties soldsince 2001, it is no wonder there are more than 150 visits per property that does come up for sale. Since 2012, the average sale price of properties in Cobaki has sat at $712,285.

If you are looking to live in Cobaki with school age children you will need to make the trip either over the border into Currumbin Valley or into suburbs such as Tweed Heads or Banora Point for schooling options from kindergarten through to secondary schools. For tertiary options, there is a TAFE campus and university at Coolangatta.

Cobaki has easy access to some great places to visit on weekends and holidays including towns such as Byron Bay, Pottsville and Cabarita; and the Currumbin Rock Pools as well as national parks at Tamborine, Natural Arch, Lamington and Springbrook.

There is some development planned for the Cobaki area over the next 25 years that includes the Cobaki Lakes area. This development includes up to seventeen residential precincts forecasted to house up to 12,000 people in 5,500 homes. Other plans include mixed residential, commercial, retail and community facilities including a neighbourhood centre and town centre, two primary schools, 87 hectares of open space, roads, pedestrian/cycle paths and public transport routes.

With potential development making housing more easily accessible, Cobaki is a suburb with a lot of potential in the future. For now, if you can get your hands on a property in the area, snap it up and enjoy the lifestyle that northern New South Wales has to bring.
