Situated alongside the Swan River, East Perth is an inner city suburb with a lot to offer. Apart from being home to the WACA, which hosts domestic and international cricket matches, it is walking distance to the CBD, walking and cycle tracks as well as a number of cafes and restaurants. East Perth is also home to Heirisson Island, which sits between East Perth and Victoria Park. Heirisson Island offers visitors walking tracks along the rivers, great views of the Perth skyline and the opportunity to see wildlife such as Kangaroos so close to the city.

Housing prices aren’t too bad for a suburb less than 5km from the CBD. A three bedroom house averages a sale price of $975,000 and rents for an average of $830 per week; a three bedroom unit sells for an average of $950,000 and rents for an average of $810 per week. The area is popular with singles and couples of all ages. For those with children, there is only one school in the suburb so you may need to look outside East Perth for schools. The University of Western Australia is a 6km walk from the suburb while The University Notre Dame is 20km drive away.

If you are a sports fan, East Perth might be the place for you. By the end of 2017 the area is planned to be the sporting hub of Perth. While it is already home to the WACA and the Gloucester Park trotting track, it is close to NIB stadium (soccer and rugby) and a new AFL stadium will be built at nearby Burswood.

East Perth is currently undergoing some residential and commercial development along the riverside, which will bring housing for a further 7000 residents and work for 6000 workers. As part of the development there will be the establishment of entertainment and dining areas across the riverfront.

East Perth offers something for everyone, and is great if you want an inner city lifestyle with great dining, entertainment and lifestyle options.
