Chermside West

Chermside West is separated from Chermside by Webster Road and is bordered to the north by the quite busy Rode Road. Hamilton Road, which is another major road in the area, runs through the middle of the suburb. Chermside West is more residential than Chermside, so it isn’t quite as busy with public transport and people trying to make their way to the shopping centre.

Chermside West is home to a lot of older-style houses but there are also some recently built homes in the area. Compared to Chermside where a lot of the population is made up of singles and couples, Chermside West is more of a family area with around 55% of the suburb made up of families of all ages. A three-bedroom home can be purchased for an average of $435,000 or rented for an average of $410 per week. Chermside West is an extremely high-demand market with an average of 113 visits per property.

Parts of Chermside West were originally named Craigslea, and some of the schools in the area still hold this name. There is a kindergarten, primary and secondary school in the suburb with other options in neighbouring suburbs. There are also a number of large parks running through the suburb offering walking and cycle tracks, picnic areas, cricket fields, dog exercise areas and bushland. There is also a small number of sporting and recreational clubs in the area including bowls, netball, hockey and soccer.

Chermside West is approximately 15km north of Brisbane’s CBD and is close to a number of shopping centres including Westfield Chermside (3km), Aspley Shopping Centre (3km) and Stafford Shopping Centre (5km). With being so close to a number of major shopping centres, you will be close to all facilities – medical (including two hospitals), restaurants, cafes, retail, office, cinemas and public transport options.

Chermside West is a great family suburb if you are looking for somewhere close to the city for work, and close to all the facilities you could need.
