Facts about Caboolture
Caboolture is a rapidly growing suburb approximately 50km north of Brisbane. While it was once a quiet country town popular with farmers and retirees, the lower cost of housing in the area has seen a number of young families move in. It isn’t just the population that has grown in the area over the past couple of years; the retail and business sector has been growing just as rapidly in the area with homemaker centres, hardware stores and shopping centres popping up both in the suburb and in surrounding suburbs.
Both buying and renting in Caboolture are cheaper than the average Queensland purchase and rental prices. A four-bedroom house can be picked up for an average of $332,500 while a four-bedroom house rents for an average of $335 per week; a three-bedroom unit averages a sale price of $285,000 while a three-bedroom unit rents for an average of $280 per week. But, despite the lower prices, Caboolture is a rather low-demand market, which may be down to the reputation of the area rather than the accommodation options in the area.
There are a number of schools to choose from within the Caboolture area, including four primary schools, two high schools and childcare and daycare centres. There is also a campus of the Queensland University of Technology and a campus of the Brisbane North Institute of TAFE.
As part of the Moreton Bay Regional Council, there are a large number of council facilities in the suburb including the Caboolture Hub (which includes a library and art gallery), swimming pool and skate park, art trail and parks.
There are a large number of public transport options in Caboolture with a train station that has lines running directly into Brisbane and then onto Ipswich as well as north to the Sunshine Coast. There is also a large number of bus lines which travel around the Moreton Bay area making it fairly easy to get around.
While there is some stigma about living in Caboolture, the area is really what you make of it and how much of the large number of facilities you take advantage of. With such cheap housing options, this is the perfect area for someone to enter the market.
