Shire of Pine Rivers

Situated at the northern border of the Greater Brisbane Area, the Shire of Pine Rivers was a local government area in South East Queensland that was amalgamated in 2008 with Redcliffe City and the Shire of Caboolture from the Moreton Bay region. Pine Rivers has a diverse community that offers a variety of lifestyle options. Areas situated near the coast such as Strathpine and Petrie are mostly urban suburbs while those found further inland, particularly those on the borders of Lake Samsonvale, are predominantly rural localities.

Housing styles in the area vary. Traditional and renovated Queenslanders and Colonials, chamferboard houses, and brick-and-tile weatherboard homes comprise most of the dwellings in the area although apartments and modern townhouses can also be seen.

Pine Rivers is popular among families due to its relaxed atmosphere and strategic location. Residents have the luxury of accessing key facilities such as shopping precincts, schools, and entertainment establishments within minutes — even with public transport — without having to live near the hustle and bustle of the city. Also, as the area features a number of new suburbs with ample residential space, prices of real properties are considerably more affordable.

There are plenty of parks, reserves, resorts and other recreational facilities accessible to the area. Located 20 minutes away, Clontarf and Margate contain a host of beaches that feature shaded barbecue and picnic areas, playgrounds, boat ramps, jetties as well as a local sailing club. Parks and reserves are virtually found in every suburb particularly the localities near Strathpine and Petrie. Notable parks in the area include Pine Rivers Park, Canterbury Park, Neilsen Park, and Durakai Reserve.

As for commercial and retail needs, Gympie Road provides a lot of options to choose from. Several shopping precincts, including the biggest in the state, can be located in the thoroughfare.
